What to do if information is missing

Adding More Speaker(s)

You can add up to ten speakers to your citation. The initial 'Add / Edit Citation Window' has space for three speakers.

To add / edit more than three speakers:

  1. Enter / edit the details of the first three speakers and then click the 'More Than Three' button.
  2. A new window will open allowing you to add / edit a further seven speakers. Enter the speakers details and click 'Close'.

Most references only have one or two speakers. Sometimes there are three or more. If there are three speakers then they should all be named in both in-text and reference/bibliography lists. However, if there are more than three speakers, in-text references should give the name of the first and then say et al.

'Document it' allows you to input up to 10 authors. It is exceptional for there to be more than 10 authors but if this occurs the user will have to add the extra authors into the reference list and bibliography. In-text citations would still automatically use et al.

For example, a full reference of:

Currier, S., Barton, J., O'Beirne, R. & Ryan, B. (2004) 'Quality assurance for digital learning object repositories: issues for the metadata creation process', ALT-J, 12 (1), pp. 5-20.

would appear in-text as Currier et al. (2004) or (Currier et al., 2004).
